West Michigan Savoyards Audition Information for the 2019 Production of HMS Pinafore

This document should help you in preparation for auditions for WMS production of HMS Pinafore. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Tryout dates and locations (you need only attend one date):

Show dates are May 16, 2019 (7:30pm), May 17, 2019 (two performances 1pm and 8pm), May 18, 2019 (8pm), May 19, 2019 (2:30pm). To be in the cast you must be available for all performances–no exceptions. Rehearsals will be on Saturday mornings and principals will be asked to meet on available Thursdays.

Chorus only – If you plan to be in the chorus only and are not coming to auditions, please fill out the form and indicate chorus only where noted and fill out all other information. New members to WMS are encouraged to come to auditions so that we may hear you sing–no prior preparations are required . Chorus will not be required to attend Thursday rehearsals except toward the end of the rehearsal schedule when we run the full show. A schedule of rehearsals and who will be needed at each will be given at the first rehearsal. You must be available for all performance dates and final rehearsals.

Principal audition requirements:

a) choose one date/time/location to audition. You only need to be at one audition to be considered.

b) Prepare one vocal number from the show for the part(s) you wish to tryout. Links to recommended songs may be found below.

c) Optional-you may prepare a piece of your own as well (a copy for the pianist is required or you may bring your own accompanist).

d) Prepare to read dialog from the show for your part(s). Link to selection below.

Note: Auditions may be recorded as an aid for the director and audition staff in selecting the cast. Callbacks may be asked for and will be arranged with those who are asked to come back. Not receiving a callback does not mean you did not get a part.
